Midnight in Paris A Movie Take by Jake

Went to see Midnight in Paris. It's been awhile since I saw a movie Directed by Woody Allen.
Woody did a great job with this one. Enjoyed the script , the actors played it out very well and it was an overall well done movie. It has a great cast and big name stars, Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard,Kathy Bates and Rachel McAdams and many other actors that you will recogonize from other films, and they all put together great performances,  that made you feel part of the story, kept you interested in the story line and from time to time Owen Wilson made you smile and laugh a little. It's not a comedy in no shape or form, but Woody as he does interjects humor in the right places. Enjoyed this film greatly. Rate it a 9 on a scale of 1-10.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Jakes Take

Folks, I went to see the latest Pirate installment: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Jack Sparrow is in search of ship, and Johnny Depp, again plays the character very well and is very entertaining throughout the movie. He meets up with Penelope Cruz and I have mixed feelings about her performance in the movie. Overall she did a good job, but maybe it was just the wrong role for her in this one. Geoffrey Rush ,as usual was outstanding and played his role very well. He was excellent ,by the way, in the Kings Speech. if you have not seen that one, rent it you'll like it . Ian McShane plays Blackbeard, and he does very well. If they decide to do a serious Blackbeard movie, Ian is the man to play the part. On my scale of 1-10 I give this Pirate installment an 8.

Hangover II & Super 8 Takes

If your a movie lover like I am, you like going to and talking about the movies that you have seen. Which ones are great, good,so so, poor or just stink. Not from the perspective of a movie critic, but from a movie goer.
Here are some movies I have seen recently with some comments and ratings. Ratings are 1 - 10, with 10 being the best, and 1 meaning it stinks.

Hangover II: The Wolfpack does it again. I'm still laughing, and I saw it 2 weeks ago. Very funny and entertaining. Carrying over the same cast from the first really helps to make the film a blast. Well worth the price of tickets and the snack bar. Rating: 9  6/28 Got some feedback from a movie goer with a different take on Hangover 2. " I thought Hangover 2 was a little too crazy and ultimately exhausting"

Super 8: Saw it this past weekend. Really enjoyed it. A little of the old time Science Fiction, some ET, some Close Encounters,Independence Day, with a dash of Coonies. Filming was well done, great shots that captured the feel of the moment and the time, set in the 70's, good special effects, child actors did very well. Amanda Michalka demonstrated very good acting skills and can see her carrying lead adult roles in her future acting career. Joel Courtney, one of the child actors, soon becomes the lead male in the movie, presenting a good performance as well. It's the kind of movie you'll watch again and again. Rating 9
